Get to Know Josie Mayfield Hudson

Ms. Hudson was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She is the daughter of the late Oscar Mayfield Sr. and Josephine Ross Mayfield. She received her high school diploma from Warren Central High School. She received her B.S. Degree in Political Science from Jackson State University and is a graduate of Howard University School of Law, receiving Her Juris Doctor Degree.

Josie Mayfield Hudson is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in the state of Mississippi as well as the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her areas of practice include Family Law, Wills and Estates, Personal Injury, DUI and Criminal Defense. She has been in private practice in Vicksburg, MS since 2001. She is the attorney for the Vicksburg Housing Authority. She serves as the Town Attorney for the Town of Bolton. She also serves as a Public Defender in Warren County Circuit Court.


Josie is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Warren County Bar Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association and the Magnolia Bar Association. In 2008, she was chosen as the Businessperson of the Year by the Robinson-Watson Book Company. In 2009, she was selected by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of Mississippi's 50 Leading Businesswomen. In 2015, she was presented with the Pro Bono Award by the MS Volunteer Lawyers Project. In 2020, the MS Volunteer Lawyers Project also presented her with the Curtis E. Coker Access to Justice Award. She now serves on the Board of Directors for the MS Volunteer Lawyers Project. Josie is also active in the United Way of West Central MS, currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors and was campaign co-chair for 2019 and 2020. In 2018, the United Way presented her with the Volunteer of the Year Award.


Josie is married to Michael Hudson, who is formerly of Grenada, Mississippi. Josie believes in the three P's for success: Prayer, Patience and Perseverance. She also believes that if you put God first in your life, everything else will automatically fall in place.
